Arnold Surrenders to the Nurses

Before jetting off to China, the defeated and humbled "Governator" gave up his long fight against the California Nurses Association. Arnold's attempts to paint the nurses as a "special interest" group, along with the debut of this blog, signaled the beginning of his nosedive in the polls.

"I should have listened to my wife"

A humbled "Governator" took the blame for the election defeat Thursday, and admitted he should have listened to his wife, Maria Shriver (pictured to the left), who told him
"don't do this." Shriver had been noticeably absent from the campaign, and I guess we now know why. Schwarzenegger vowed to work with Democrats in the legislature and labor groups, but we'll see if they can all bury the hatchet.

A Clean Sweep

Californians dealt Arnold a terrible blow yesterday by
defeating all eight initiatives. Even before the results were completely in, the Schwarzenegger campaign could see the writing on the wall. Shortly after 10pm, the "Governator" gave an uncharacteristically humble speech in which he thanked even those who voted against his measures for participating.

Elsewhere in the state, San Diego botched up again, electing a Dick Murphy clone to replace Mayor Dick Murphy who resigned earlier this year in the wake of scandal.

San Francisco voted to ban all handguns. It will be illegal to buy, sell, distribute and manufacture guns and ammunition in the city. Residents who already posess handguns will have to turn them in to authorities by April 1st.

Election Day: Get Out and Vote NO!

Well, the "special" Governor's "special" election is finally upon us. Its time for you to get off your duff, cut class, skip work or whatever and get to the polls to vote NO on Arnold's power grab initiatives. Once again, here's our voter guide:

Prop 73 - NO
Prop 74 - NO
Prop 75 - NO
Prop 76 - NO
Prop 77 - NO
Prop 78 - NO
Prop 79 - YES
Prop 80 - NO

While we like Prop 79, a clean sweep wouldn't be bad either.

A couple other notes...

- Rememeber this important message.
- If you're in San Diego, please vote for Donna Frye for Mayor.

...and for those of you who are tired of campaigns, dont worry, its a full 7 months before the next statewide election, so you might get a few weeks before the campaign ads start to air.

Prop 73's Hidden Agenda

We knew all along backers of Prop 73 are trying to legislate family relationships, but if you look closer you'll see they have an anti-choice agenda hidden behind their "pro-family" rhetoric.

As you should know by now, the idea of Prop 73 is to require parental notification prior to a minor undergoing an abortion procedure. We here are Recall Arnold Schwarzenegger have opposed the measure from day one, arguing any young girl who can talk to her parents about such things probably already will. Teenagers who can't talk to their parents will be forced to resort to unsafe measures if the proposition passes.

A closer look reveals there's more to the prop though. The proposition would also provide a public "judicial scorecard" citing any decision by judge to override the parental notification requirement. The fanatics who like to kill doctors who perform abortions might just move on to judges if they have an easy listing of them.

More disturbingly, the proposition would define abortion as "the death of the unborn child, a child conceived but not yet born." This gives the anti-choice crowd a big foot in the door. Current state law defines abortion as "medical treatment intended to induce the termination of a pregnancy." The new terminology could cause major problems for women if Roe vs Wade is overturned, and with this President, that may just be possible.

Vote NO on 73.

All Eight Initiatives Trail

Indicating the majority of Californians are still somewhat sane, new polls indicate all eight ballot initiatives trail badly. The Field Poll, long ignoring props 73, 78, & 79, finally got around to sampling the public on those measures. The result? More of the same...voters don't want any part of these initiatives anymore than they want the Arnold Power Grab Quartet of 74, 75, 76, & 77.

Speaking of Prop 77, opponents have found a new spokesman. Judge Joseph Wapner, yes from the People's Court, is appearing in ads urging defeat of the measure.
